My laptop had a fall off the table and shut off and when I turned it back on it was in recovery mode. The screen then said “HP PC hardware diagnostics UEFI” I ran an extensive test and the error I got said “hard drive smart check : failed” I can’t do anything to get my laptop to start up. Any suggestions or is it dead?

Hi:
Most likely the hard drive was damaged as a result of the fall.
You will have to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system in order to fix the problem.
Hopefully, that was the only casualty as a result of the fall.
