I put the Windows 11 install program on 3 different thumb drives and tried all the settings in the BIOS, but can't get anything to recognize any USB or C ports. When checking via HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI (F2), the new SSD tests good, but no other storage devises are recognizable (it says "No storage installed"). One of the thumb drives lights up, so I know its getting power. How can I install new Windows OS if I have no way inputing the install program?

Try to use the F9 boot options menu to boot from the usb drive.
Turn on the notebook and immediately tap the F9 key until you see the boot options menu.
select USB Flash Drive (or USB Hard Drive) and hit the Enter key to boot from the usb drive.
If you still cannot boot from the usb drive, enter F10 BIOS setup and disable Secure Boot in Boot Options tab and save and exit and try again.
If you still have the problem, tell us how you created a Windows installation usb drive. The drive may not be bootable. If you have another PC, try to see if the usb drive is booted from the PC.

Thanks for the info, but here's the video that really help me out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqz3OtxqyOI. Also, it is important to use the right download on the MS Windows 11 page: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11. You must load the 2nd download in the middle of the page labeled "Create Windows 11 Installation Media." A problem I had was that MS would not allow me to download it at all using my old backup Win 7 computer, because it said it wasn't compatible with my old unit (even though I had no intention of using it on that unit). I tried downloading the bottom "Disk Image (ISO),", which is supposed to be good for all the versions of Win 11, but this HP would not even see it on a flash drive (I borrowed my daughter's newer laptop to download the right version). One more thing I had to do was to go back and delete the volume that I had made following WD instructions for formatting that came with new SSD, otherwise the HP couldn't see the new drive when it came time to install Win 11. I had to format the new SSD could see it in the BIOS troubleshooter (F2). Even after getting everything up and running good, that troubleshooter still could not see the thumb drive that I used. It was misleading info, along with some of the stuff I found on the HP website (I prefer MSI products, but this HP was given to me). Again thanks.
