Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This laptop went into warranty in December 2011, and HP no longer provides drivers.  It does not recognize SSD hard drives, so I'm hoping to find firmware or BIOS updates that might help.  I listed Windows 10 operating system, but any will do that have have drivers that might help.  I will be aiming for Windows 11 ultimately.

@SkipperGas, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

BIOS Update for SSD Compatibility

Navigate to HP Support.

Enter your laptop's model number (e.g., HP Envy 14) to find available BIOS updates.

If a newer BIOS version is available, download it.

Follow HP's instructions carefully to update the BIOS.

Reference: HP Consumer Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) (Windows) | HP® Support

To determine if your SSD is compatible with your laptop:

Check SSD Specifications:

Identify the model and specifications of your SSD (e.g., SATA or NVMe).

Test SSD in Another System:

If possible, connect the SSD to another computer to verify its functionality.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
