Hi There
Rather than my laptop being absolutely useless limping along with ancient Vista - I wiped it and installed windows 10
I thought all was well but I am getting randon BSOD's and I believe it is due to the bios which would benefit from being updated. Also some of the chipset, card reader drivers etc are not working and windows 7 ones not working so hoping a bios update might help this too.
I understand I may have to go back to Vista to do this and then re-install windows 10 after flashing bios
and best case scenario would be latest compatible bios version intended for windows 7 I think??
Serial number [removed per Rules Of Participation]
Product number : kb350ea
32 bit
AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core tk55
Current bios version F.0
I need the bios file and a clear set of instructions to flash it if anyone knows?
Many Thanks

Hi:
Here are the links you need for the final BIOS release...
Info file:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52477.html
Exe File:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52477.exe
And yes, if you don't want to turn your PC into a paperweight, you will have to install Vista to update the BIOS.
For the AR chipset driver you have to manually install it in W10. The auto install won't work.
You should be able to use the Vista card reader driver, and it should install without incident.

You're very welcome.
I don't believe the BIOS update is necessary to fix whatever issues you are having.
You can try the card reader driver I posted right now, and it should work.
Also, are you using the right set of Vista drivers for your model series?
The dv6000 - dv6499 are the older AMD/Nvidia models and they use different chipset, card reader and graphics drivers than the dv6500- dv6999 models do.
You need this AR chipset driver for your model...
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37730.exe
To install the driver, run the exe file.
Then go to the device manager, click on the Coprocessor device that needs the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp37730.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.
Then restart the PC.
You can also install the graphics driver the same way.
You would go to the device manager, click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category and do the update driver process from the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.
You may first have to close out of any error windows that pop up after you run the graphics driver exe file.

Hi there
Vista Re-Installed - BIOS Flashed Successfully
Windows 10 Re-Installed
Managed to Update the Chipset Driver
Failed to Update the Ricoh Card Reader Drivers et'al - says best driver is already installed but have the yellow exclamation beside them
Were there Win 7 Drivers released for this that might be more compatible with windows 10?
Thanks

Hi:
You can see if this driver works...
This package contains the Ricoh Media Card Reader Driver for the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems. The Ricoh Media Card Reader driver provides support for the following media: Memory Stick, xD-Picture Card, MMC, SD, and SmartCard.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45112.exe
If not, use the manual driver install method for both the 1394 controller and the SD host controller...browse to sp37730.
