Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

HP Envy x365 (or 360) went thru major strip job over the last day and a half courtesy of HP Support Ali.  We used the old laptop that is being replaced to help fix the new one that went to total blue screen on boot.  Had the new one since Feb this year.  Spent the last day and a half with Ali of HP Support on the phone and internet instructions back and forth.  By the time the "Cloud Recovery Tool finished, HP was closed for the night.  So, my question is:  How to keep the Cloud download safe from whatever could happen to a file/program that says on the finish message:  "Complete.  You may now boot your system from this USB drive.  To boot from this device, you may need to update your system configuration."   I do not have ONE clue what happens when I reboot after all that's been done to rebuild the newer laptop.  So, I can't turn this one off.  I can't shut down the message window on this one.  I can't close this one out and reboot.  I have no answers for why I can't do these things nor do I have the answers for trying to leave my laptop that is holding this information that is to be fed into the other laptop when I connect again with Ali or whoever is the lucky one at HP tomorrow morning at 7 am.

@sandy61607, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

HP Cloud Recovery Tool can help you to restore your HP Envy x360 to its original factory settings using a bootable USB flash drive. If you have already created the recovery media, follow these steps to complete the recovery process:

Insert Recovery Media:

  • Insert the bootable USB flash drive that contains the recovery media into a USB port on your HP Envy x360.

Restart the Computer:

  • Turn off your computer.
  • Turn on your computer, and repeatedly press the ESC key until the Startup Menu appears.

Access Boot Menu:

  • Press F9 to enter the Boot Options menu.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the USB flash drive from the list of boot devices, and press Enter.

Follow On-Screen Instructions:

  • The computer will boot from the USB flash drive and display the HP Recovery Manager screen.
  • Follow the prompts to initiate the recovery process, which will restore your system to factory settings.

Complete the Recovery Process:

  • The recovery process may take some time to complete. Once finished, your device will restart, and you should complete the initial setup as if the device were new.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
