I have a passport 1TB external drive.  After two days I blew off the backup and trying it again

@powerlounger

One thing that makes a BIG difference is HOW the backup target drive is connected to the PC.

I regularly do 150+GB backups on a PC with an older 4-core CPU.  The backup is to an INTERNAL drive and it takes about 45 minutes.  So, one your size, on that same PC, would take about 80 minutes.

But, if I connect an external drive, even using a USB3 port, that backup takes a LOT longer -- so long, that I no longer attempt it.  I seem to remember that it was hours to complete.

Then, there's the possibility of using a USB2 port -- and that will be at least twice as long as using the USB3 port.

But even then, my guess is that it would complete in well under 8 hours.

So, if yours is taking 2 days and even then not finishing, then there is something failing in the process -- and that could be the drive you are backing up.
