A customer's laptop failed to boot - gave a SMART error.
She lives 350 miles away so she shipped it to me.
I saw the error, found that the laptop warranty was expired, so I opened the bottom, replaced the NVMe SSD, installed Windows 11 Pro and it runs great.
How do I activate Windows 11?
Should I install Windows 11 Home instead?
Can I download an ISO from HP?
My customer is a real scatter-brain and has moved a couple times and has probably discarded the original system documentation.
Thanks!

The PC originally came with W10 home, so if you install W10 Home it should be activated automatically with the OEM W10 Home product key in the BIOS.
If your customer had paid for an upgrade to W10/W11 Pro, then see the info at the link below for how to upgrade from W11 Home to W11 Pro:
Upgrade Windows Home to Windows Pro - Microsoft Support
If she paid for the upgrade, she would have to log in to the Microsoft Store using her login information to upgrade back to W11 Pro, or have the W11 Pro product key to enter.
You can reinstall the original HP factory software image that came with the PC by using the cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility. You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for this.
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support
You can download the software from the Microsoft Store:
HP Cloud Recovery Tool - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store
If you use the software on another PC to create the recovery media, you will have to enter the notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.
The notebook's product number is 1G132UA#ABA
If you make the recovery media using the notebook it will automatically detect the product number and allow you to proceed.

Thank you Paul_Tikkanen !
It would be easier to reinstall with the Win11 Home ISO than to go through the process of building the recovery USB flash drive. But I'm wondering if there is any compelling benefit to convince me to install the HP build with the HP software bundled in.

You're very welcome, Tim.
I can't think of any compelling reason to do that unless your customer would like to have the original software included.
I was in Portland. OR once for a meeting many years ago.
Very nice and green.
It's sunny and windy here in the St. Louis metro east area. 79 degrees.
This is the time of the year here for severe storms with wind, tornados and hail.
Got $21K of hail damage to my house two weeks ago from a recent storm and another severe storm is predicted for Sunday. ☹️
Cheers,
Paul

Yeah, it's wet here. I was in St. Louis supporting a trade show at the Convention Center back around '99 or so. I had just enough spare time to go up in the Gateway Arch and see the museum for the beginning of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Of course, the other end is out here.
Cheers,
