Hi, I have a problem with the hp UEFI diagnostic application. I updated to version 10.7.0.0 but when I restarted I entered the menu, and it was not the version 10.7 but an archaic 1.24. I tried to update several times but nothing changes, always gives me version 1.24. How can I solve it?
Thank you

Hi @MDSCs,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion Power 15 is reverting to an older version of the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI (from 10.7.0.0 to 1.24), here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Current BIOS Version
- Before proceeding, check your BIOS version. An outdated BIOS may not support newer versions of the UEFI diagnostics.
- Restart your laptop and repeatedly press the F10 key until you enter the BIOS setup.
- Note the BIOS version and release date.
Update BIOS
- If your BIOS is outdated, update it to the latest version available for your model:
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Enter your laptop's model number and navigate to the Drivers & Software section.
- Download the latest BIOS update and follow the instructions provided to install it.
Reinstall HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
- Download the latest version of the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI:
- Visit the HP Hardware Diagnostics page.
- Make sure to download the correct version for your system.
- Create a bootable USB drive with the downloaded file using a tool like Rufus or HP's own Media Creation Tool.
- Boot from the USB drive:
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly during startup to access the Startup Menu.
- Select F9 to choose the boot device, then select your USB drive.
Reset UEFI Settings
- Sometimes, incorrect settings in the UEFI can cause issues:
- Enter the UEFI setup by pressing F10 during startup.
- Look for an option to reset to default settings (usually found under the Exit tab).
- Save the changes and exit.
Check for Corruption
- If the application is still reverting, it might be corrupted. Consider re-downloading the update files and reinstalling them again.
Perform a System Recovery
- As a last resort, you might need to perform a system recovery, which will reset your PC to its factory state. Be sure to back up your important data before proceeding.
- You can access recovery options by pressing F11 during startup.
Notes:
- Ensure that your laptop is connected to a power source while performing updates.
- Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date as well, as this can sometimes affect hardware diagnostics.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
