Product: ProBook 450 G6
Operating System: FreeDOS

Hi,

i have HP ProBook 450 G6 laptop (Intel i5 8265u, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) that has Free DOS preinstalled. I would like to know is that laptop using Legacy with MBR or UEFI with GPT.  And how can I install Ubuntu Linux in UEFI over it ? Can I only install it as normal from bootable USB drive that is set for UEFI based system, or I need something else. I got info that if that laptop has Legacy that I will need to update firmware and BIOS also, and use HP repair partition  table. If that is true how can I do it, and if that is false, whot should I do then? Thank you in advance.

I'm sorry, but we here are not equipped to provide detailed Linux support.

HP only warranties their PCs for usage with the OS that comes preinstalled. IF you replace that with Linux, or add a Linux OS, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that -- as HP provides Linux assistance only on Redhat and then only to commercial customers.

The primary "challenge" to using Linux on any HP PC is the availability of Linux drivers. Any hardware that does not work will then range from simple (if there are Linux drivers available) to impossible (if there are NO Linux drivers available) to fix.

Since HP does not provide Linux drivers, your best bet for Linux support is to contact the support forum for the Linux distro you are using -- in this case, the Ubuntu Forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/
