have a HP Notebook - 15-db0066wm
I bought a M2 ssd drive 1tb. Looks like a memory stick. And installed it
When I turn on the computer and press f2 all I see is what is in the attached picture. The memory test and the hard drive check pass. When I click "exit', I get " the selected boot device failed. Press enter to continue. I press enter and the laptop turns off. I have a bootable USB stick with windows 7 in the USB slot. How do I install this thing?
Note: I have no other hard drive in my computer. Just the M2 ssd installed. Do I need another hard drive installed to get it started? or will the M2 ssd work and install by itself. Thanks

Hi:
The PC should work with just a M.2 SSD installed, or works with the M.2 SSD as the boot drive, and the 2.5" drive to only be used as storage.
You cannot install or run W7 on your notebook. W10 64 bit only is supported.
Use another Windows PC with W7 64 bit or newer on it and a 32 GB USB flash drive to create a bootable usb recovery that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook on the SSD.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility...
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10, 7) | HP® Customer Support
You have to boot the PC from the USB flash drive. It does not do it automatically.
Turn on the PC, and press the ESC key to get the menu of options.
Select the F9 boot options menu, and from that, select the USB flash drive and press the enter key.
The PC should boot from the W10 installation media and the installation process should begin.

1.When entering the product id, you have to include the letters after #
2.after step 14, you have to click f 9 choose boot order and then f 10 to change the boot order to operating system boot. Otherwise it will continue to repeat the process. Installing to a flash drive takes about 1 hour. And installing to your PC takes about 1 hour also
