A long time ago I deleted the hard drive section which had windows on it. I used it to recover the notebook to factory settings. Is there a way to restore this hard drive section?

OK, thanks.
Here is the information you need...
Install W8.1 by creating the Microsoft installation media, using another Windows PC, if yours is not working...You want the W8.1 Single Language 64 bit ISO file.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8ISO
If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, use this generic key.
This is the generic key for W8.1 Single Language:
Y9NXP-XT8MV-PT9TG-97CT3-9D6TC
When you get to the screen that asks 'Where do you want to install Windows,' delete every partition on the hard drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space. Click Next, and W8.1 should begin to install.
If you had to enter the generic key, manually change the generic product key to the W8 key in your PC's BIOS in the PC settings menu.
After you get W8.1 installed, and you had to manually enter the W8.1 generic product key, you will need to run the free utility I zipped up and attached earlier today, that will show you show the W8 product key in your PC's BIOS.
I have also zipped up and attached below, the Microsoft tool which hopefully will transfer the ISO file to a DVD or USB flash drive so it is bootable, or you can use a free utility such as Rufus.
Then you can install the available drivers and software from your PC's support page.

Hi:
You can reinstall W10 for free by creating a bootable USB installation flash drive using the media creation tool at the link below.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
There is no way to get back the preinstalled Windows 8.
I can give you a free way to clean install W8.1 by using the W8 product key in your notebook's BIOS if you don't want to reinstall W10.

OK.
First run this free utility that I zipped up and attached below that will show you the W8 product key and the version of W8 that the key is good for.
Post the version of W8 the key is good for. Don't post the key.
This is what I need to see...This is the report from my PC using the utility...
OEM Edition: Win 8.1 RTM Professional OEM:DM
That way I can tell you what version of the W8.1 ISO file you need to download.
