HP Stream x360 - 11-p010nr (ENERGY STAR)

I have a HP Stream x360 - 11-p010nr. When I turn it on, I get a blank screen. After several attempts, it does give the the CMOS checksum is invalid...CMOS reset (502) message and then telling me to boot the system.  After that nothing happens and troubleshooting with various keys has not worked.

I was provided with  a link to recover my BIOS.    My system on the HP website is showing to be EXPIRED and there are no available software and no BIOS.   I am so frustrated as regardless of it being expired, I should be able to obtain software for my system from the manufacturer.   I cannot do so at this time.    Is there a similar HP system I could use BIOS for?  And if not, what could I do to obtain a BIOS for this machine??

Would appreciate some doable feedback there.

Thank you.

You're very welcome.

A CMOS 502 error is normally battery related.

If your notebook has an external main battery, the CMOS coin cell battery on the motherboard probably needs to be replaced.

Below are the info and exe file links to the latest BIOS update I could find for your notebook:

Here are the links for how to create a BIOS recovery flash drive and how to try and recover the BIOS with it.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU Paul!   Very much appreciated getting the BIOS.  I'm gonna give this a try once a get a moment.   I have a feeling that the battery could be the culprit but won't know until I try this first.   .    I'll come back and let you know how it goes and complete if solved.

But thank you, appreciate a response on the BIOS!

OK, Paul, so here's the scoop.  I was able to successfully recover the BIOS based on your feedback ;-), howEVA, upon hitting  enter, Windows did not start up, just appears with a blank screen and that is that (pics attached).   Also, the white light near the power cord starts blinking, which I thought might point to a battery issue.

So I too wondered if it could be the CMOS battery but I am not sure and cannot determine if the HP Stream x360 - 11-p010nr has a cmos battery installed.   This machine does not have an external battery (see back of notebook in pic) so not sure if that rules out a CMOS battery?  It's been a bit challenging to get info on this system.   I primarily thought the internal battery needed replacing vs. CMOS.   Also was wondering about the powercord.   I inherited this machine without a powercord/adapter and I purchased a replacement.  So I wondered about it possibly being responsible but it does get a blue light on it and the notebook does power up when plugged in so not sure if that rules out a bad power cord or not.

I would love to figure this out and troubleshoot, I just need some direction on this one Paul as it was hard to get details on the notebook.     Anything you feel I should or could try I'd appreciate as I am not ready to give up on it yet.   Maybe confirming whether this model has a CMOS coin battery installed?  And if so, where the heck is it....lol as it was not obvious unless it's hiding.

Thank you Paul.  Most appreciative of your feedback.  4_Adapter.jpg3_Battery.jpg2_Blank Screen.jpg1_Recovery COmplete.jpg4_Back of HP Stream.jpg

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual:

c04503763.pdf

The notebook does not have a separate CMOS battery.

The main battery must also serve as the CMOS battery to maintain the system BIOS and clock settings.

If you want to get the correct power adapter replacement that is listed in chapter 3 of the service manual, and you could probably find a genuine used but tested and working HP power adapter on eBay.

45 W HP Smart AC adapter (non-PFC, 4.5 mm, non-slim) (not for India/People’s Republic of China) 741727-001.

I see some listed beginning for around $16.00.

Since I am not a PC repair tech by trade or training, I feel that the information I have provided would be the best I can do for you.
