I’m sorry I’m sure this is an easy question but I can’t word it good enough for google to help. So, an old roommate gifted a new laptop. Pretty cool, however she already signed in with her Microsoft account and the password she gave me was wrong. I don’t know how to get rid of her stuff and I’d really like to get in the laptop and use it but I’m not sure how to do that without her password. Is it possible? What do I do

If the notebook came with W11 from HP, you can use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will return your notebook's drive to its 'out of the box' condition.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.

HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

HP Cloud Recovery Tool - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store

Since you have to use the software on another PC, you will have to enter the notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed.
