As the title, my omen 17 gaming laptop only charges when the computer is off. I have brought a new charger for $100 to match, still only charges when the laptop is off.
I've deleted battery and charger drivers and re installed, updated Bios, still no change. Ho assistant doesn't recognise there is a charger when running battery tests. Was working fine on the weekend, then just stopped charging.
Product name : OMEN by HP Laptop 17-cb1xxx
Product number : 1V1Y3EA#ACB

Hi @Vinnyninja67,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing battery issues with your OMEN by HP Laptop 17-cb1xxx.
I suggest that you follow the steps listed below to update the drivers from device manager:
1) In the Windows search box on the desktop, type “Device Manager” and then click on it.
2) Expand “Batteries”.
3) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.
4) Click on “Uninstall”.
5) At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver
6) Restart the computer.
7) When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.
😎 Go to Device Manager.
9) Expand Batteries.
10) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there and click on update drivers.
11) Click "Search automatically for updated driver software"
Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.
You may also check this document for Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows).
I hope this helps and have a nice day ahead.

What are you going to do? I see more people with this issue and more people with an omen laptop with this issue.
How old is your laptop?
- Mine just began to act weird at the date when my warrenty expired. Am not looking forward to buy chargers / batteries / parts which at the end won't solve the problem.
- Could you keep me up to date when there is some developement in your issue solving?

Absolutely no idea. if its not fixed, I can imagine I wont be an OMEN customer again. a year out of warranty almost to the month and I cant charge a gaming Laptop that was almost 2k usd. I had a HP that lasted 10 years + . and of course, its an inconvenience for my work and cant use for gaming at all. Its also not the only issue ive had with the laptop.
