6715s hp Compaq notebook
Microsoft Windows XP

Following antivirus issue I sanitised the hard disc now can not load from xp discs it says it can not detect c: drive damaged cable yet in f10 drive checks out OK,  so I think I have deleted sata drives and recovery partition so how can I ever get any operating system back on if drive not recognised.tried removing and refitting drive with battery out, also will not work from recovery cd which was lost but now found.Should I bin it or does anyone now how to repair easily, I have also windows 10 laptop but it does not like repair files in zip mode that are not from 32 bit xp, I have tried downloads, Linux etc but can not find sata drivers for the motherboard as hp no longer support this model.also tried windows 95, windows 98 bit nothing loads from cd drive.

Hi:

Yes, I believe you need the sata drivers for your notebook if the drive controller is set to the default SATA Native Mode in the BIOS.

But I don't see any listed under the XP driver section on your notebook's support page.

I have zipped up and attached the XP 32 bit SATA drivers you may need below.   I got them from the 6735s.

You will either need to slipstream them or have a USB floppy drive to load them at the F6 prompt.

You're very welcome.

Hopefully, they will work.

I have attached a file below for how to slipstream drivers.

It is for the intel drivers, but the procedure to slipstream them is the same.

thanks for the slipstream info, I will print it off.have tried the floppy and it has found c: drive at last, but will not load disc in cd drive tried 98  and xp discs, says incompatible data but will try again, could be other faults such as cd  drive or hard drive failure but not sure, just can not get it to boot up from a cd rom software.

the image file on the floppy would not load when I sent through the options, so could be a c: drive problem.

thanks again, I will have another go soon.
