Hello , im looking to buy a laptop, not sure it this will be the best fit for me ,

I work as a stock trader , teacher , and also some gaming on the side this laptop used go for about 300 to 350 dollars from where i live and it comes with

AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U 8GB Ram 256GB SSD AMD Radeon Graphics 14 Inch FHD IPS Touch Screen

Is it the best laptop to buy for me or should i go with the g9 or the 10

The EliteBook 845 G8 with the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U is still a very capable business laptop, particularly if you are getting it for around $300–350. For stock trading, teaching, browsing, Office applications, video conferencing and general productivity, the 6-core/12-thread Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U is quite adequate.

There are, however, two things I would pay particular attention to:

1. Upgrade the RAM:

The configuration you found has only 8 GB RAM. I would not recommend leaving it at 8 GB if you intend to run multiple trading applications, browser tabs, charts, Office applications and teaching software simultaneously.

The good news is that the 845 G8 has two accessible DDR4 SODIMM slots and supports up to 64 GB DDR4-3200.

Ideally, look for 16 GB (2 × 8 GB) dual-channel RAM at a minimum. If the price difference is reasonable, 32 GB (2 × 16 GB) would give you considerably more breathing room.

2. Don't buy it primarily for gaming:

The Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U's integrated Radeon graphics are fine for older/lighter games, but this is a business notebook with integrated graphics -not a gaming laptop. Modern AAA games will be heavily limited by the integrated GPU.

For your combination of stock trading + teaching + normal productivity + occasional light gaming, however, it is a sensible machine.

G8 vs. G9 vs. G10:

There is a genuine progression between these generations:

• 845 G8: Ryzen 5000 + DDR4
• 845 G9: Ryzen 6000 + DDR5
• 845 G10: Ryzen 7000 + DDR5

The G9's Ryzen 6000 models also bring substantially newer integrated graphics, while the G10 offers another generation of processors.

So, I would look at the actual price difference, rather than automatically paying more simply for a newer generation.

If you can get the G8 for $300–350, and a G9/G10 costs substantially more, I would be quite comfortable with the G8 provided you budget for a RAM upgrade and verify the condition of the used/refurbished machine.

Also, I assume by "10" you mean the G10, rather than a 10-inch EliteBook. If you give me the prices and exact CPU/RAM/SSD configurations of the G8, G9 and G10 you are considering, we can make a much more meaningful comparison.

One final point: stock trading benefits considerably from having multiple displays. The 845 supports external displays/docking, so I would consider that as part of the setup rather than choosing a laptop solely on its internal screen.
