Hi @Carebear-1221

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're going through the initial setup process on your HP laptop, and you're encountering a prompt asking whether you have a child using the laptop, but there isn’t an option that applies to you. No worries—let's walk through this:

1. Answering the Question About a Child

  • The setup might be asking if you want to set up parental controls or if you're configuring a family account. If you don’t have a child using the laptop, you can usually just select "No" or "I am the only user" or similar options.
  • If you can't find a clear "No" option, look for an option that mentions "This device is only for me" or something like "Skip this step".

2. Skipping the Question

  • If you're unable to find an option to directly answer the question, it’s likely there’s a "Skip" button at the bottom of the screen. Look carefully—sometimes it’s easy to overlook during the setup process.

3. Setting Up Without Parental Controls

  • If you select "No" or "I am the only user", this will allow you to proceed without configuring parental controls, which you can always set up later if needed.

4. After Setup

  • If you’ve already completed the setup and the prompt doesn’t appear anymore, you should be able to adjust any account or parental settings through the Windows Settings afterward.
    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users and from there, you can manage user accounts.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
