Hi @Prod21,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion 17 laptop doesn't have a factory reset option and you don't know the password, you can try the following methods to reset it.
Use HP Recovery (if available)
If your laptop has a recovery partition, you can reset it using these steps:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it on and immediately press the F11 key repeatedly until the HP recovery options menu appears.
- In the recovery options menu, choose Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
- Follow the prompts to either keep or remove your files and reset the system.
Reset Using a Windows Installation Media
If F11 doesn't work or the recovery partition is missing, you can use a Windows installation USB drive to reset the laptop. Here's how:
- Create a bootable Windows installation USB drive using the Windows Media Creation Tool.
- Plug the USB into the HP Pavilion 17.
- Power on the laptop and press Esc or F9 to enter the boot menu.
- Select the USB drive to boot from.
- Once the Windows installation screen appears, select your language and region, then click Next.
- Choose Repair your computer at the bottom left.
- Go to Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
- Choose to either keep or remove files and follow the steps to reset the laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
