@HARIHARAN_94, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Installing Windows OS After Formatting Local Disk C!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
To install a Windows operating system again on your PC after formatting Local Disk C, follow the steps outlined below:
Preparing for Installation
- Back up all essential data: Ensure that you have backed up all important files before formatting the disk.
- Get a Windows Installation Media: Obtain a valid Windows installation disc (DVD) or a bootable USB drive with the Windows OS setup files.
Installation Steps
Boot from Installation Media:
- Insert the Windows installation DVD or connect the bootable USB drive to your computer.
- Restart your computer.
- Enter the BIOS setup by pressing a key during startup (usually F2, F12, DEL, or ESC). The specific key depends on your computer manufacturer.
- Change the boot order to prioritize the DVD drive or USB drive over the hard drive. Save and exit the BIOS setup.
Start Windows Installation:
- Upon reboot, your computer should boot from the installation media.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to start the Windows setup process.
Format Disk and Install OS:
- Select “Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)” when prompted.
- Choose the formatted Local Disk C as the installation location.
- Follow the instructions to format the disk again if needed and proceed with the installation.
Complete Installation:
- Windows will copy files, expand them, install features and updates, and then finish up the installation.
- Your computer will reboot several times during this process.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
