I tried to download a recovery media from HP support site but didn't see any link to it

I tried booting through network but it failed

I tried downloading HP cloud recovery tool and It doesn't work, it gives me the message "Product ID does not match or is invalid"

All I need is to download a recovery media

@Ragy222,

You need to use HP Cloud Recovery Client software. This is the download link.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp153001-153500/sp153344.exe

Click this link for how to use the recovery client.

I believe that your notebook came with FreeDOS, not Windows.

You will need to make a bootable W10 installation flash drive with the media creation tool from the link below.

Download Windows 10

You will need your W10 product key to activate Windows with, since notebooks that come with FreeDOS have no product key in the BIOS.

That is also why the cloud recovery tool media indicated "Product ID does not match or is invalid."

If it came with Windows 10, when you go to install W10, it will not ask for a product key.

The HP 2xx Gx notebook model series uses the consumer version of the HP cloud recovery tool.

The Probook 4xx Gx, 600 Gx and Elitebook models use the HP cloud recovery client utility.

Thanks again

Hey sorry that I gave you wrong reference.

HP PartSurfer identifies your system board as #M49513-601 (SPS-MB UMA Ryzen3 5300U WIN), indicating your notebook came with Windows preloaded.

HP PartSurfer

However, that part number doesn't appear in the list of available system boards for 255 G8 (see page 17 of the manual). This could have something to do with your notebook not supporting the cloud recovery.

Maintenance and Service Guide

You may contact and ask HP support for a recovery installation usb drive. If they are nice, they will send one to you. . .maybe.

If they don't, your only option will be, as Paul suggests, to clean install W10 from Microsoft download center. A product key is stored in the BIOS, and Windows will be automatically activated when you go online.

@tk srq

I can't thank you enough,,
The only Problem is when I contacted HP support they directed me to the middle east site which has no chat option with a support agent or to even send an Email
The only option is to phone them during certain hours (does not suit me)

I think I might go for the install windows manually OPTION

Thanks again
