I got this laptop as a present from a relative, it was only a month or two old and I accidentally erased the user account, now I cannot log on, I get the message wrong password entered, I used to log on with my fingerprint but that does not work either. I had been using Windows 10 Pro and thought I would try to boot up using a trial version of windows 11 but get a message Secure boot violation Invalid signature detected, check secure boot policy in Setup. I tried to start up in windows 10 Safe mode but I get the error Bit Locker recovery key required but I don't have one. Can anyone suggest how I can get over this impasse please. Thanks for any help.

When you deleted the account, it removed the fingerprint access, as well.
We are not permitted to assist in resetting passwords due to HP Policy.

I tried your advice and got a reply on whatsapp from HP support, someone called Vasu saying that this was not a hardware problem, they are not trained to resolve software problems, contact Microsoft. That was it...

I spent some time chatting to Microsoft's technicians on a chat line and they said it was too difficult to solve this and referred me to their commercial section in the UK. Who asked me if it was for home or business, when I said home they just directed me back to Microsoft's help line. Several hours wasted, there must be a guru somewhere who could help, even if its just to format my hard disk and start again.

Modern laptops have Secure Boot enabled in the UEFI settings -- and that prevents booting from USB media. This will stop you from reinstalling Windows, even if you were to create HP Recovery Media.
In the hope that the UEFI settings are not password-protected, when your reboot the laptop, press the Esc key repeatedly and then when the Startup Menu appears, press F10 to bring up the UEFI Settings. Once in there, disable Secure Boot.
Once you have done that, see if you then can boot from USB media -- but -- so NOT install anything -- just check to see if it will boot from the USB media.
I use Win11 every day and am not aware of any "trial" versions. The only versions out there are Beta versions, not trial, and I would not boot a machine I use daily from one of those versions.
If your PC is a 2016 model or newer, you should see if you can make a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool on a working PC.
The recovery drive can then be used to install Win10 and the HP drivers and utilities that originally came with your PC.
