I forgot my bios password HP Notebook Folio 1040 G2 ultrabook

Can you please help me reset bios password

Hello @phuongdss,

We are sorry as there is no master password or generator for EliteBooks or ProBooks.

HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks  or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.

1. Please Contact HP Business Notebook support they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

                                   When talking to the HP rep ask them to escalate your service request.

HP requies invoice but i do not keep invoice

hi good evening 

i have the same problem taht y hp folio 1040  g2 bios  is locked , i need to open it to install a new windows 

i called customer care  and i gave them the invoice and  every paper they want 

they sent me  smc.bin    file 

when i am installing it  following the steps the  laptop  says ( SMC COMMAND FAILURE ) 

then i call them again , the wanna me  change the motherboard 

i went to some expert  , he  told me that he need a original full SMC  dumb   16 mb  size  to  dumb it inasted of  exchanging the motherboard 

how to get that file please ?
