Pavilion notebook pc
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have hp pavilion notebook,  I didnt use the device for months . Then once when I started using it the device was slow ,and it was lagging in windows updates so I  did all updates I dont remember which one I did . After that the device started to stop when I was using it ,screen will turn black . After days I was unable to turn on the device ,only the power button will show its light whenever I touch it  . Once successfully something on the screen appeared telling that there is an issue with the OS ,so I clicked on restoring option . After that now again the device is not turning on

Hi @HELPME404  Welcome to the HP Support Community !

This may be happening because of corrupted operating system or hardware issue.

1. Perform some basic hardware checks to rule out a potential hardware problem

- Please, shutdown the computer using the power button (pressed and hold for a few seconds until PC powers off)

- Power the computer back on.

As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap) before any logo appears. This should open a HP Startup Menu >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSN0qzXayUY

- Choose F2 to open System Diagnostics. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform System Test >> Fast test.

This will check major hardware components for issue (do it just in case) . Here is more info >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JXUp43ahHA

If there are no system checks/no quick tests, perform HDD (hard disk drive) and RAM check (memory check).

>>> Let me know the test results <<<

2. If the tests PASS and there are no issues found, proceed to reinstall your operating system, your Windows 10.

Check the attached .PDF file below and follow the instructions.

This should resolve your problem. Let me know how it goes and post back if any difficulties.

Hi !

Make sure you press and hold the power-on button for at least 5-10 seconds until PC powers off. You can ever press and hold it for at least 30 seconds until you release it back.

Then, press it once and immediately (literally immediately) begin hitting the Esc button repeatedly multiple times until you see the HP power on menu.

If the above has been performed, we have another situation called Computer starts but screen remains blank. If this is the case, follow the steps in this article >> https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03518165
