So, I finally updated to Windows 10 last night on my new (But not exactly used since August of 2018 Omen Laptop - 15T) and figured I would be able to get my new laptop set up in the morning without much issue. I was incorrect. After being hit with a "The User Profile Service failed the sign in" error while I was trying to log in this morning, I didn't know what to do. My Omen is essentially brand new, just very underused, so there should be no way it should've gotten corrupted. But after simply turning it off and on again I was able to log into my account somehow just fine. Here's the issue though. When I finally got on, everything was set to default. My files, gone. Themes, back to default. All of my settings, sent back. I was absolutely livid. It was like I just logged into a new user despite it still being my own. So I went back into my old users files to where all of my downloads were under a different user with the same name and transferred them onto whatever file's downloads I must have been using. It should've all still should've been on there!
This is when I began experimenting to see what caused me to lose my files. I signed out and signed back in to find that I kept everything. Then I shut it down and turned it on again with everything still the same. When I restarted it AGAIN though, everything was gone. Even everything that was on my old user file was gone except for the files I didn't transfer, along with every file and settings I had changed YET AGAIN on whatever user (Which I'm positive is the same one I've always been using?) I was on while being completely unable to find the ones that got transferred even when I searched for their file names. I'm lucky this is a new computer and I didn't lose anything other than a few installed games, themes, and pictures, but I'd really like this fixed so I DON'T lose something important in the future. How do I keep my files to not disappear after restarting? I've tried to do it myself by setting up System Restore, but the "System Restore..." button to do so is completely greyed out.
I'm completely new to Windows and have no idea what to do. Please, any ideas or suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

@SP63, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Try the steps recommended below.
Check to see if you’re signed with a temporary profile
Go to Settings > Account > Sync your settings;
If you are signed in with a temporary profile, you’ll see a message "You are logged on with a temporary profile. Roaming options are currently unavailable."
This means that the system is trying to attach an extra account to yours, you’ll need to restart PC and sign in again to get your account settings and data back.
You can directly use Search to search for your files. If you don’t see, use the troubleshooter to fix the problems with Search: open Search and type: indexing > Indexing Options > Advanced > Troubleshoot search and indexing. Then you can try to find files in Search again.
If the files are hidden, you may follow below to find hidden files in Windows 10:
In the search, enter Show hidden files and folders > Select Show hidden files, folders and drives under Hidden files and folders;
Try the search again; If you need to find a certain type of files, type: *.doc or *.mp3 etc to search.
If you have created a backup before Windows 10 update, you can restore the backup and find lost files back:
Type: Backup and restore in the search > Open it and select Restore my files; Then follow the instructions.
You can also recover a file by creating a new one with the same name and file type;
After creating the new file, right-click it and select Properties > Previous versions and pick the file to restore.
Keep me posted for further assistance.
