I cracked open my laptop to clean out the fan since I noticed it was getting abnormally hot. However, I seem to have broke something, since it refuses to work, either the screen doesn't come on or it detects a motherboard issue. Problem is, I don't know what's wrong int this picture. Please help.

Hello @Redbert03 .
I can't see anything wrong, and I hope you haven't touched the components without first removing the static from your body.

ry the following and check if your equipment turns on:
Power draining is adequate for a hardware restart or hard reset to be performed, and this does not erase personal information.
Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the stored energy in the hardware components. This procedure of reducing stored energy is also known as a hard reset.
o Turn off the computer.
o Disconnect the computer from any port replicators or docking stations.
o Disconnect all peripheral devices, such as USB storage devices, external displays, or printers.
o Disconnect the AC adapter from the computer.
o Turn the computer over and look for the battery compartment door to determine whether or not your computer's battery is removable.
o Now to consume any residual electrical charge from the capacitors protecting the memory, perform the following as it is the basics of this:
If you see an access door to the battery compartment, your equipment has a removable battery. Remove the battery, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds, reinsert the battery back into the compartment and proceed to the next step.
If you do not see any access door to the battery compartment, your computer does not have a removable battery. On most laptops with a non-removable battery, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to complete the restart and proceed to the next step. 1. Reconnect the AC adapter to the computer, but do not connect any peripheral devices.
2. Turn on the computer.
If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows normally and then press enter.
3. Once the peripheral devices are connected, run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all drivers.

My battery is removable. I did this process and it's still not working, however the caps lock has changed from 5 slow, 3 fast, to 3 slow, 2 fast.

Thank you for following up on this issue.

The red light flashes three times, then twice; the white light flashes
This condition indicates a possible memory failure. Replace the memory module from inside the equipment.

CAUTION: This product contains components that are easily damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). HP recommends wearing an antistatic wrist strap and working on a non-carpeted floor with a conductive foam pad to reduce the possibility of electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage.
Turn the equipment off, disconnect the power cord and remove the battery.
Turn the unit over, then remove the cover to access the memory.
Verify that the ram memory has clean contacts and is securely connected.
If after verifying that the ram is visually OK and the computer still does not turn on, then replace it with another ram that is new and compatible for your computer.

Upon ensuring the RAM was connected, the fan sprung to life and the caps lock stopped giving off error blinks. However, the computer still refuses to work, the screen is black and it doesn't respond to inputs.

@Redbert03 .

It can be a problem reported by the red light flashing five times, and then three times, so it can mean that:
This condition indicates that the embedded driver cannot access the BIOS within the set time limit.

Is it still under warranty?
What country/city are you contacting from?

The BIOS has not responded to any attempts from me. Holding or repeatedly pressing esc or f10 after a restart, not working.

The warranty has expired.

I am from Illinois in America.
