Hi @Linus13,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble downloading the original recovery for your HP Spectre x360. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue with the HP Cloud Recovery Tool:
Check Internet Connection
Ensure you have a stable and strong internet connection while downloading the recovery. A weak connection might be causing interruptions in the download process.
Use Different USB Ports or Drives
It seems you've tried different USB drives, which is great. Ensure they have sufficient capacity (32 GB, not 16 or 64) and are formatted correctly in FAT32.
Run as Administrator
Try running the HP Cloud Recovery Tool as an administrator. Right-click on the tool's icon and select Run as administrator. This might help resolve permission-related issues.
Disable Firewall/Antivirus
Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software, as they might be blocking the download process. Ensure to re-enable them once the process is complete.
Clear Cache and Temporary Files
Clear any existing cache or temporary files that might be interfering with the download. You can use the Disk Cleanup tool in Windows to help with this.
Manual Download Options
If the tool continues to fail, consider these alternatives:
- HP Recovery Manager: Sometimes, using HP Recovery Manager from the BIOS can initiate a recovery without needing an external download.
- Restart your laptop and press the F11 key repeatedly during startup until the Recovery Manager interface appears, and follow the on-screen instructions.
HP Cloud Recovery (Microsoft Tool): HP Cloud Recovery Tool - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store
HP Cloud Recovery Download Tool: HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
