I was able to successfully install the driver for the controller, but I am not able to install the driver for the SATA. Do I need to do something else?

Unfortunately although I installed the controller, the laptop still does not see the drive.  Do you have any other suggestions??

HP Recommended

Unfortunately, I do not.

Is the drive cable properly connected if you installed a 2.5 SSD?

It may be possible you have a defective drive if neither the BIOS nor Windows can find the disk.

I installed WD Blue 2.5" SATA SSD's in all of my notebooks and desktop PC's that support them as they are the best on the market, in my opinion.

Windows should have no problem installing on notebooks with the Intel 8th gen core processors and even the driver I gave you should not have been required.

Is the drive you installed a 2.5" SATA SSD or is the the M.2 (Gumstick type)?

Maintenance and Service Guide HP Pavilion 15 Laptop PC

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that your notebook has a M.2 slot that supports the much faster NVMe SSD's.

If you bought a 2.5" WD Blue SSD, you may want to exchange that for a NVMe SSD such as the Samsung 980.

It looks like the M.2 slot is located just above where the 2.5" drive goes as shown in the illustration in chapter 5, page 39 of the service manual.

This is the 500 GB model for example...

After replacing the hard drive again, the install ran perfect. The new drive is much faster and better than the original.

Glad that your notebook is back up and running again.
