My device manager under processor list the Intel i3 7100u four (4 ) times. I am having some slow processing issues and I am wondering why there are 4 processors listed . Any other advice regarding slow operation will be greatly appreciated

Thanks for the reply, personally I would not recommend you to change the operating system or remove HP applications. However, in task manager, under startup items, if you see any applications that you don't use or want to start automatically on startup, please disable them.

If the performance of your computer is very slow, please run an extensive test on your computer. Click here for assistance.

Greetings @Ecklingler

I see you are facing a performance issue on your computer running on Windows 10. Happy to help.

Have you installed all Microsoft Windows updates and driver updates on your computer?

Recommend you to install all updates from Windows, available under settings in the Windows button.

Run HP Support Assistant to make sure all the drivers are updated. Click here

You can try other steps suggested in this HP Article.

For your other question regarding 4 processors, this is because your computer's processor has 2 cores and supports hyperthreading. Click here for Intel specs for your processor.

Let me know if this helped.

Thanks for the info. I have recently downloaded some updates and I check support assistant regularly and I will continue to do so. I have read getting rid of the bloat ware can help but I am not confident to attempt this. People have said this will speed things up. Eelw responded with advice that made sense. At idle the processor will slow down to conserve power which would explain my task manager showing these lower figures. Also in device manager under processor it list the i3 7100u 4 times possibly due to hyper threading technology, although I did not know the i3 contained hyperthreading features.

Thanks again. I am inclined to do as you recommend and not shoot myself by going overboard . I have 8 g ddr4 memory and some of my friends tell me that the problem is me trying to do too much . I will follow your suggestions and check for hp updates regularly. Thanks again for all suggestions.
