Prod.-N°: 463N0EA; Prod.-ID: 463N0EA#ABD; CPU: i7-1165G7; Dualboot
Preparation:
1) creation of 2 supplementary partitions ext4 (for /boot and /)
2) BIOS updated (F.20 Rev.A)
3) no options concerning disabling ACPI in BIOS found
4) preparation of recent USB-installation stick (after mda5 check)
5) secure boot disabled
When booting on USB and after choosing „Try or install ubuntu“ I get a series of errors just before the installation of ubuntu in RAM starts. When I continue with „Try ubuntu“ the same series of errors appears before I get a normal access to ubuntu by the live system.
Here the error series
[ 0.165293] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_TZ.FN00], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20210730/dswload2-326)
[ 0.1653071] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (202107
30/psobject-220)
[ 0.165312] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\TZ.FAN0],
AE_ALREADY_Exists (2021730/dswload2-326)
[ 0.165314] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (202107
30/psobject-220)
[0.16535856] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_TZ.TZ00],
AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20210730/dswload2-326)
[ 0.165358] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup(catalog (202107
30/psobject-220)
6) After the input of all parameters for the installation of ubuntu, just in the last step when confirming “Install” the installation process stops with the following message:
Installation failed
During copying the files on the hard disk there occurred an uncorrectable error
[Errno 5] Input/output error
Often a corrupt CD/DVD or HD can cause such an error. Try to clean the CD/DVD, burn with lower speed, clean the lens of the CD/DVD device or reduce the environment temperature.
7) I tried to start the live ubuntu with ACPI=off but without effect
I suppose that the first series of ACPI errors could be the real reason. I tried the same ubuntu USB-stick on an older HP ProBook-470 G0 (Prod.N°: H6P56EA) and a recent one HP 17-cn0623ng (Prod.N°: 4J8T1EA#ABD) of 04/22 without errors at all on both. Anyway all final given suggestions cannot cause this behavior.
It happens the first time during my 15 years experience on ubuntu. Perhaps the HP laptop (March 2022) is too new and the basic OEM OS Windows 11 is not very well implemented in the BIOS on the motherboard.
I would be very happy if someone could give me an efficient advice because ubuntu is my primary OS but I want to preserve Windows 11 for special applications. For security reasons I don’t like the new WSL installation of ubuntu inside Windows 11 neither a virtual ubuntu inside Windows. As I got a OEM licence of Windows 11 it seems me difficult to implement a virtual Windows 11 inside ubuntu. On the other hand I’m not sure if ubuntu could be installed on my new machine at all.

Complementary observation:
in the mean time I noticed a supplementary first error, flashing up just a second before displaying the first menu with the “Try or install ubuntu” option.
error: file ‚/boot/‘ not found
This is the first sign of a problem. I suppose, that this file should exist on the installing USB-stick.
Nevertheless after the end of installing ubuntu in RAM this directory exists in the live system of ubuntu.
