Hello everyone! 👋
I have been using this forum for many years to find solutions to the problems I have encountered with HP devices and it has never happened —until now— that I have not managed to somehow get it done.

Well... I'm here because of "until now".

This time I simply can't install Windows 10 (22H2) on my friend's laptop.

The "usual", by now, "A Media Driver Your Computer Needs Is Missing", a common problem we have all faced dozens of times.
I've tried all these iRST drivers 19.5.1.1040, 19.5.2.1049, 19.5.4.1051, 19.5.5.1052, 19.5.8.1059, 20.0.0.1035 (and a few other), but no luck so far...

Another strange problem is that I can't identify the model by S/N, but if run the HP Web Product Detection, it identifies it, but then, again, I can't add it to my dashboard...

I already explained my friend W10 will no longer receive free software updates, technical support, or security fixes, but he insists that some of his app(s) worked better on W10 than on W11, so —please!— don't bother to suggest W11. In the end, it doesn't even matter why he wants W10...

Not to mention it has become a "personal issue".
Now I just have to solve it. :))
I hope I can find a solution with your help.

Thank you!

Thank you! Again... 🙂

I am creating another bootable USB with "MediaCreationTool_22H2" as we "speak".
Rufus shows this bootloader warning:

I get it every time I create the bootable USB/SSD. I've searched for this error as well and they say (on MS tech community) it's safe to ignore it, but I also considered it wouldn't hurt to give the Media Creation Tool a try...
Will let you know tomorrow if it works, it's very late here now... 😉

OK, so it looks like this did the trick.
Allowing MediaCreationTool to download the image and prepare the USB stick worked for me WITHOUT even asking for iRST drives.

@zecar,

See these two posts where folks successfully installed IRST storage drivers on 250 G10 models with an Intel Core 13th gen processor.

@Tk_srq
Thank you for the links, but, yes, already read all threads involving "250 G10" here and many on other forums.

And lots of YT videos... 🙂
Besides, I didn't have any problem installing W11.
First I thought it was my W10 drive, but I created with Rufus 2 more bootable USB flash drives and 1 bootable external SSD.
Still no luck... 😞

If you haven't already used Microsoft media creation Tool to create a W10 installation usb drive, try it, as it works better than Rufus + ISO file, I believe.

If the problem still persists, run F2 diagnostic test for hard drive to rule out faulty drive.

If your friend's notebook came with Windows preinstalled, you can use HP Cloud Recovery Tool to restore hard drive to a factory state. Click the link below and enter the full product number (ProdID) for the recovery tool availability.

Cloud Recovery

Click the link below for how to use the recovery tool.

If you can't use the recovery tool, I don't have any other suggestion for you.
