HP ENVY X2 PC
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

I have an old HP netbook with windows 8.1.

It is quite slow so I would like to install a light version of linux on that PC.

I tried Lubuntu and Ubuntu without success.

I disabled "Secure Boot" option in BIOS.

I tried all the boot order options, but linux installer does not launch.

How do you accomplish that if it is at least possible?

Processor:  Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU Z2760 @ 1.80GHz

RAM Memory : 2.00Go

Windows 32bits, processor x86

BIOS InsydeH20 version F. 12

Thanks for your help!

David

What do you mean with "Linux installer doesn't launch"?

Does the computer boots your USB / media or it doesn't?

Hi Dag7_

No it doesn't boot on my USB stick.

I made one with Rufus.

thanks

Bad news: due to the BIOS which is old and not updated anymore, you can't install any other operating system than Windows. That computer is Windows-only compatible unfortunately.

I know, this is frustrating and it is not the reply you wanted to read, sometimes this kind of things happens (I had the same issue with a desktop computer, I know how it feels).

Next time, I would advise you to check if you can install Linux before buying your computer.

Linux is installable in 90% of the time, but this time you are out of luck! 😞
