Hello All,

I want to know everything I can about the IRST driver and program. I have it installed in my laptop ever since I purchased and I have no idea in what it does, is it necessary? What are the functions for it? Do I need it?

I tried uninstalling it from Programs and Features but it says "There is a pending reboot for this product".

But by now I've did like millions of reboots and nothing extra ordinary has happened related to it.

So I want to know whether it plays any important role for my notebook, and if not.

Please guide me on how to properly and fully uninstall it without any issue.

Hi,

Welcome to HP Support Forum. Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) is a technology which helps your machine runs faster by using SSD as cache to speed up the process to access frequently used applications. Please read more information on the following links

     https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/architecture-and-technology/rapid-storage-technology.html

     https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/technologies/000005610.html

My suggestion: download and re-install its software :

Hello banhien,

Thank you for the reply.

I forgot to tell you that I don't have an SSD, I'm using the default HDD that came with my laptop until now.

So I wanted to know what can I do to uninstall and reinstall IRST, because the download page is very confusing for me.

Also, I didn't get any solution for the problem that I stated in my OP.

Regards.

I meant I have Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver installed ever since I have purchased the notebook.

And the microsoft links that you sent, none of the drivers are compatible with my notebook. I downloaded and tried to run but no luck.

Hi,

Please try the following driver from HP:

             http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp69501-70000/sp69595.exe

its home page:

@banhien

This is the driver I installed previously.

When I run it it just comes up with the dialogue where it just starts copying files to the SP or I guess SW folder in the C drive, then after that it just keeps showing drive activity for a while.
Then after like 10-15 mins if I search about IRST in the programs, its installed and it opens up the IRST main window. It doesn't give any acknowledgement of any sort. And it doesn't seem to give any noticable improvement in the system.

And one more issue that I needed address, I clean installed my windows almost 1 year ago.
Before that my drive speed used to be 90+ mbps (read and write).
But now it only shows like 70+? Why is there such a huge difference?

Is there something in the factory installed os that is different than the clean install? Like some driver difference?

Regards.
