You need this Wi-Fi driver:

Intel Wireless Drivers for Microsoft Windows 7

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57501-58000/sp57976.exe

Here's the link to the driver page for your notebook:

Hi:

There are dozens of different model internet connection devices.

They all use different drivers.

It would help considerably if you would post the full model number or product number of your notebook.

Find product and serial numbers for HP PCs, printers, and accessories | HP® Customer Support

Also, go to the device manager.

If the Wi-Fi adapter needs a driver, there will be a device labeled as a Network Controller.

Post the hardware ID for the Network Controller device, so I can figure out what driver it needs.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device.

When I installed the windows 7 OS I didn't see windows defender? Is that separate? I tried to find it on the Microsoft site and it took me to the Microsoft store to download it but when I clicked on the download button it didn't do anything. Would you have download for that and if so is it something I would want to wait to install until I have all my drivers installed? I have four more drivers to install as far as I can tell.

Yes, Microsoft Security Essentials is a separate download that you can get at the link below.
