Hi @gavin9999

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how worrying it feels when the laptop suddenly refuses to charge, especially when the power supply is connected but no charging light appears. Let’s walk through some careful steps together to bring the system back to life.

Step 1: Check the Power Adapter and Cable

  1. Disconnect the adapter from the laptop and wall socket.
  2. Inspect the cable and connector for any bends, burns, or looseness.
  3. Try plugging into a different wall outlet to rule out power source issues.

Step 2: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Disconnect the power adapter and remove any connected peripherals.
  2. If the battery is removable, take it out. If not, just keep the adapter unplugged.
  3. Press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the adapter (and battery if removable) and try powering on.

Step 3: Check Battery and Adapter Status in HP App

  1. Open the HP App from the Start menu.
  2. Go to Support and select Diagnose & Fix.
  3. Run the scan—it will check the battery and charging hardware.
  4. Follow the on-screen guidance to correct detected issues.

Step 4: Verify in Windows Battery Settings

  1. Click Start > Settings > System > Power & battery.
  2. Under Battery, check if the system detects the battery and charging status.
  3. If it shows “Not charging,” note whether the battery percentage remains fixed.

Step 5: Update BIOS and Drivers

  1. Visit the official HP Software and Driver Downloads page:
    HP Software and Driver Downloads
  2. Enter your Envy laptop model number.
  3. Download and install the latest BIOS update and Power Management driver.
  4. Restart the laptop after installation.

Step 6: Inspect Charging Port

  1. Gently check the charging port for dust or debris.
  2. If needed, use a soft brush or compressed air to clean it.
  3. Reconnect the adapter firmly and observe if the charging light appears.

Once these steps are completed, the charging light should ideally glow again, signaling that power is flowing back into the system.

Would you like me to also guide you through checking the battery status in BIOS to confirm whether the hardware is being detected correctly?
