Hi @wendywyy

Welcome to the HP Forums!

It is a great way to engage, post questions and find resolutions by working with specialists in the HP community.

I reviewed your post and I understand that mute key is turning on and off automatically.

I’d love to help!

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

·         When was the last time the computer was working fine?

·         Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

·         Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to follow below steps and check if it helps.

1.      Click the Start button, then click Run.

2.      In the Run window, next to Open, type MSCONFIG.

3.      Press the ENTER key.

4.      In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.

5.      On the Startup tab, under Startup Item, ensure that there is a check in the HKserv checkbox.

NOTE: If HKserv is missing, reinstall the Hot-Key Utility application by Clicking here

For windows 10 drivers: Click here

(ignore the ads, 3rd party link has been sent to ensure your issue is fixed, I'm going beyond my way to help you and if you would like to give me virtual high five, Click on the purple thumbs up 🙂 )

Let me know how it goes and you have a good day ahead.

Take care!

Hi @wendywyy

I recommend you to uninstall the audio drivers and reinstall it and check if it helps.

If the issue persists, I recommend you to download and install HP support assistant and it will automatically install all the required drivers for the computer.
