The IDT high definition audio codec installed through the HP recovery manager will reinstall the original drivers that came with the laptop and not the Win10 compatible drivers. 

 

I suggest you to uninstall the existing IDT drivers from the device manager and then download and install the IDT high definition audio codec for Win10 from this link.

I had this same issue after upgrading to Win 10 and I just installed the codec you provided and it did the trick. This also restores system sounds that I hadn't realized weren't working. Thanks!!!
