Keyboard problems

Keyboard problems and opening problems.

First let me say I have done a complete factory reset and the problems still persist.

So first the key board types mor than one letter or number at a time. I do not mean multiple letters or number with one touch of a key. I mean for example the number 3 appears as 13. The key e becomes qe and so on. 

The a and k keys work only when they want sometimes I have to hold or press many times before they work. OK could be the pads are worn under the key.

Second problem.

I can not type in the windows search bar and I can open settings. The settings window appears for a few seconds and closes without going to the actual settings. Also can not use Windows and r to open system run. Nothing happens at all with that.

So as I say I did a factory reset but the problems persist. I'm at a total loss now. Any help anyone can give I would appreciate  before I take it to the doctors.

Keyboard problems are nearly always strictly hardware -- so why would you think a strictly software fix (factory reset) would do anything to fix that? All you did was set back your PC several months and that has only made things worse, not better.

If you are experienced at laptop repairs, you can often replace a keyboard for $25 for a new one and a half-hours work. I have done this on older HP laptops.

But, if you're NOT, there is a serious risk of breaking fragile connectors and cables doing this -- so I do not recommend it.

Instead, I would recommend you hunting down a local laptop repair place to have THEM replace the keyboard. Sometimes, on some models, you have to replace the entire top surface of the laptop, not just the keyboard. So you should get an estimate of what is involved before you have the work done.
