Product Name: hp 15-dy5885wm
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit)
Hi I have read through all of the messages in the
My Laptop stuck at "Please wait" for ever. forum area, and I believe I know WHY it happened, I just cannot figure out
how to fix it. I've tried checked plugs, removed zip drives, did F11 and held down power to shut off, turned it on and off waiting 4 secs in between as someone suggested.
HP support please help!
Thanks

Hi @MariaAlejandra,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the Automatic Repair issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Hard Reset:
- Disconnect all external devices (e.g., USB drives, printers).
- Power off your laptop.
- Remove the battery (if removable) and unplug the AC adapter.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
- Reconnect the battery and AC adapter, then try powering on the laptop.
Enter Recovery Mode Using a USB Installation Drive:
- If you have already tried pressing F11 to enter recovery and it hasn't worked, consider using a Windows installation USB drive.
- Plug the USB installation drive into your laptop and restart the laptop.
- Press the appropriate key to enter the boot menu (usually Esc or F10) immediately when the laptop starts.
- Select the USB drive to boot from.
- When the installation screen appears, click "Repair your computer" instead of "Install now".
System Restore:
- If you can access recovery options, attempt a System Restore.
- Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore and follow the prompts to restore the system to a previous working state.
Reset the PC:
- If System Restore is unsuccessful, you can perform a reset through the recovery options.
- Choose Troubleshoot > Reset this PC. You can choose to keep your files or remove everything during this process.
Perform Diagnostic Tests:
- HP laptops often come with diagnostic tools. You can launch them by pressing Esc or F2 during startup, and running the hardware diagnostics, particularly on the hard drive and memory to check for underlying issues.
I hope this helps.
