My laptop keeps turning off even with a high charge. When it hits 70% it just turms of off and when I turn it back on it only stays on for a few moments. I have to charge it again to make it stay on. If it gets to 70% again it turns it off. I am a student, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you have been using your ultrabook for more than one year, there does exist the possibility that the main battery is no longer in a usable condition.

Most owners get two years and more service from a main battery, but not everyone manages that. It has do to with ambient temperature and the way that people use their notebooks.

Unfortunately, main batteries are generally only warrantied for one year. That includes replacement batteries.

Take a read of the article that I wrote for the Notebook Knowlege base at the link below. It also applies to your situation.

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Knowledge-Base/Is-your-notebook-plugged-in-and-not-charging/...

I suggest that you log into Windows and Invoke the Battery report to see the current condition of your battery and its charging status since it was initially turned on.

YOu can open it in a browser, save it as text and paste it into your next response in your thread.
