So I downloaded the new update and at first it was stuck on the hp black logo with the dots going in a circle but it continued doing that for an hour and I decided to just leave it on while I sleep. Now that it is morning it's still going around. Here's where things get difficult, I did a bios recovery and it returned an error code. Now I don't know what to do.

Hello @Babyspit
Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.
(1) Power on notebook
When seeing the Windows logo press and hold <power> button to power off notebook !
- Repeat this procedure at least 3 times to get into <Windows Recovery Environment>
(2) Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore
- Click Next when the System Restore widget opens.
- In the pop-up window, you may see the restore points you have created. Choose the most recently created one and click Next to continue.
- You are asked to confirm the restore point. If everything is OK, click Finish to start the restoration operation.
(3) Please report your results

I have the same problem.
It does NOT even show windows logo. The hp logo with the black background and rotating circle logo below it is all I see. It's been like this the whole day no matter how many times I restart.
I also tried the safe mode and Windows recovery mode - same results.
Please help!

I also attempted the 22H2 update Sep 21 on my Spectre. Ran into same issue with the HP logo and spinning disc. None of the troubleshooting options were able to work. Got a command window open and found the only drive left was the X: drive. C: was gone.
Ended up taking to local computer shop. They also were unable to get the Intel SSD to boot into anything but X: which lacked the essential files to start the computer into windows or any troubleshooting. Also were unable to reformat the drive using my bitlocker key.
Had to buy a new SSD and start over again. I've seen some issues noted on Microsoft about UEFI and 22H2. Can only assume therein lies the problem??
Believe 22H2 will not be attempted again for a while...

This is awful! I can't believe it's wiped out everything to the point where I can't even do a fresh Windows install from a USB. So the way I am reading your post, it sounds like I will have to buy a new hard drive for my laptop? How much did that run you?

He put a Crucial 500GB NvME in. You can pick those up for about $50 so not bad. Of course, he charged me double (to keep the lights on he said 🙂 ).
He also mentioned the Intel Optane with the 32MB cache he has seen some problems with so opted not to go that route. Haven't noticed any difference in speed running different app so not disappointed.

My friend had Spectre x360 with the same issue. I end up installing ubuntu on a usb drive and do the "try ubuntu" to get into the desktop. then I went to disk, and it list all the disks. I noticed that he had two separate SSDs (29GB and 512GB) on the computer I then formatted both of the disks to Fat and then did a normal usb windows installation using the bigger drive. I had to get the drivers for the storage from hp website to be able to see the Hard drives during the windows installation. Hope it helps!
