Hi @Luz771

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m truly sorry you’re facing this situation—it’s frustrating when your laptop won’t power on, especially with battery warnings. Thank you for reaching out and for any steps you may have already tried.

Let’s walk through a clear set of actions together to bring your HP Spectre back to life:

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Disconnect the AC adapter and any connected peripherals (USB drives, printers, external monitors).
  2. Press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
  3. Reconnect the AC adapter, but leave external devices disconnected for now.
  4. Try powering on the laptop.

Step 2: Check AC Adapter and Charging Port

  • Ensure the adapter is firmly connected to both the laptop and the wall outlet.
  • Look for the charging light near the port. If it doesn’t glow, try another wall socket or a different HP adapter if available.

Step 3: Battery Reset (Internal Battery)

Many HP Spectre models have an internal battery reset pinhole:

  1. Locate the small pinhole on the underside of the laptop.
  2. Use a paperclip to gently press inside for about 5 seconds.
  3. Connect the AC adapter and attempt to power on.

Step 4: Run Battery Diagnostics

HP laptops include a built-in diagnostic tool:

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Press the Power button, then immediately press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  3. Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  4. Select Component Tests > Power > Battery and run the test.
  5. Follow on-screen instructions and note any results.

Step 5: Update BIOS and Drivers (if laptop powers on)

If the system starts after charging or reset:

  1. Open the HP App from Windows.
  2. Go to Updates and install the latest BIOS and drivers.
  3. Restart the laptop after updates.

Step 6: If the Laptop Still Does Not Power On

  • Leave the laptop connected to the AC adapter for at least 30 minutes, then retry.
  • If the battery diagnostic indicates failure, the battery may need replacement. You can decide on service options based on your preference.

Would you like me to also share steps for checking whether the battery is detected in BIOS once the laptop powers on? That can help confirm if the battery is communicating properly with the system.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
