Laptop bricked after BIOS Update 17-bs077ng

Hello,

It looks like I have successfully bricked a laptop.

I had some speed related issues on this laptop which were caused by fully occupied CPU cores while just doing basic stuff like a video playback.

I thought this might be a heat problem in a complete fan-less celeron system which might be cured by an BIOS update.

I updated the BIOS by using a nearly fresh Windows 10 install (I mainly use Linux on it) and using the HP software manager for that.

After a successfull flash process and a Windows rebooed the laptop and it won't start anymore.

A blinking caps lock (3 short 5 long) indicates a system board or CPU failure on a system wich worked fine before.

I went trough a lot of manuals ... so far I have:

- created an USB BIOS recovery stick

- tried the windows+b and windows+v key startups

- opened the laptop and removed the battery, CMOS battery, WLAN card and RAM for a while and try it again.

- replaced the CMOS battery for a new one.

The laptop instantly starts caps lock blinking if you put a power cable in, without waiting for a power button.

After pressing the power button for 10 seconds it will turn off until the button is released and it will instantly go back into cpas lock blinking.

Any more suggestions what I can try, before looking for a new mainboard/laptop?

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.

(1) Power off notebook

(2) Disconnect charger

(3) Press and hold <power> button for 30 seconds

(4) Connect charger

Use another Windows 10/11 computer to create <USB flash drive>
