My HP ENVY x360 - 15-aq294cl laptop do not wake up when it goes to sleep or when you close the lid.  The laptop boots fine and shuts down fine and works well.  I have upgraded the laptop to Windows 11 Pro but the problem is still there.  I have reset there laptop and re-installed the OS, installed all the Drivers, Bios and Chipset updates.  The issue is still there.  Does any one have a similar issue and as able to resolve.  Your help on this is appreciated.

Thanks,

Bilal

Hi @BabaBilal,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

I understand you have issues waking your computer from sleep mode.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

Please share the product number of your PC to assist you better.

As you mentioned you have issues waking your computer from sleep.

Try updating the BIOS and chipset drivers on your PC using the HP support assistant and check if it helps. Click here

Try few steps recommended below.

Right-click on the Windows icon present at the bottom left side of the screen and select Settings.
Once in the Settings, select the menu of System present as the first entry at the top left side of the screen.
Choose the menu of Power and Sleep from the list of options at the left pane in the screen.
Now at the top right side, you will find an option as Advanced power settings. Click it.
Choose the option “Choose what the power buttons do” from the list of options available on the left side of the screen.
Now you will be seeing a menu like this. Make sure that you apply these changes to both the options (On battery and Plugged in)
When I press the power button: Hibernate

When I press the sleep button: Turn off the display

When I close the lid: Sleep

Click on “Save Changes” at the bottom of the screen and navigate back to the previous page.

Now click the option “Choose what closing the lid does”.

Make sure that you apply these changes to both the options (On battery and Plugged in)
When I press the power button: Hibernate

When I press the sleep button: Turn off the display

When I close the lid: Sleep

Click on “Save Changes” at the bottom of the screen and navigate back to the previous page.

Now navigate to the main Power Options menu. Here you will see different plans available on your computer (Balanced, High Performance and Power saver etc.). Select the one you are using and click on “Change plan settings” present in front of it.
A new window will appear. Navigate to the near bottom and click on “Change advanced power settings”.
A small new window will appear in front of you. Navigate to the near bottom and select “Power buttons and lid”. Apply these changes to both conditions (On battery and Plugged in).
Lid close action: Sleep

Power button action: Hibernate

Sleep button action: Turn off the display

Press Ok to save changes and exit. Restart your computer for the changes to take place and check if the problem has been solved.

Also, uninstall the graphics driver from the device manager and install the driver using the recovery manager. Click here

to know how to restore drivers using HP recovery manager.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank for the steps.  I have updated and installed all the Firmware, Chipset, Bios and  Drivers.  The issue is still there.  It is an HP ENVY x360 - 15-aq294cl.  The system wakes up from sleep iff you try after a few minutes of going  to sleep.  But After an hour or so, it just would not wake up and require a restart.  Could it be a hardware issue with the Video card or the hard drive?  If I set it not to go to sleep, the system stays o, but if you close the lid, and leave it for a few hours, it does not wake up.   The light on the computer power is on, and you can hear the hard drive, but it will not wake up.  I will need to hold the power down until it shuts off, then re-start.

Thanks,

Bilal
