Hi @Kw20001,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting a Critical process died error on your Pc, to try and fix the issue please try the below steps,

1. Restart Your Computer:

  • A simple restart can often resolve temporary glitches.

2. Boot into Safe Mode:

  • Safe Mode loads Windows with minimal drivers and services, which can help isolate the problem.
  • Restart your computer and repeatedly press the F8 or F11 key during startup (the key may vary depending on your HP model) to access the Advanced Boot Options, then select "Safe Mode"

3. Check Disk for Errors (chkdsk):

  • Corrupted files on your hard drive can lead to this error.
  • Open Command Prompt as an administrator, type chkdsk /f /r, and press Enter. This will schedule a disk check on the next restart.

4. Run a Hardware test:
Hard Drive test

1) Shutdown the computer.

2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.

3) Press F2 once.

4) Go to Component test.

5) From the list, run the Hard Drive (extensive) test.

Memory test

1) Shutdown the computer.

2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.

3) Press F2 once.

4) Go to Component test.

5) From the list, run the Memory (extensive) test.

Please do try and let me know

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
