Laptop - green text and screen like DOS???

My laptop today has suddenly gone green and in almost DOS mode. I have rebooted it twice. Any help would be so appreciated. Thank you

What does the text say?

Try performing HP hardware diagnostics at boot and see if there are any hardware problems.

Turn off the PC by holding the power button. Turn on PC and continously keep pressing ESC until startup menu appears and then press F2 to enter diagnostics. Try the fast test, or at least the hard drive test.

See if there are any hardware errors.

Please also provide the exact model or product number of the PC

Hi David, 

Thank you so much for the help. I ran the tests as recommended and everything came back okay. However, the issue persists. So right now I was working on an excel document and suddenly the screen went black and the text in my document appears in the background as if it’s a DOS screen. I took a snapshot but not sure how to attach it here.

The Model is HP Notebook. Product ID: 1BW95EA#ABU

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
