HP 14 inch Laptop PC 14-ep1000 (917V7AV)

Hi, I've had my laptop (14-ep1000) for about 5 months now. It's a bit slow since I play games on it, it's not too nice but not very bad. Just today, my Google pages weren't loading so I decided to restart my computer just to get it loading again (I do this often to get stuff reloaded). I shut it off, let it sit, and then pressed the power button again. The power button turned white (indicating it was turning on), but no fans, or anything else ran. I tried to plug it in, but nothing was happening (the charger is working, it showed an amber colored light). What's wrong? Thanks to anyone who can figure this out, you're a lifesaver.

1. Perform a Hard Reset

Sometimes a hard reset can resolve issues where the laptop isn't responding properly. To do this:

  • Power off the laptop completely (hold the power button for 10-15 seconds to ensure it’s fully off).
  • Unplug the charger and remove the battery if it's removable (you didn’t mention whether your battery is removable, so you can skip this step if it's not).
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Plug the charger back in (if you removed the battery, make sure it's plugged in).
  • Try to turn the laptop on again.

2. Check for External Display Issues

It’s possible that your laptop is actually turning on, but the display isn't showing anything. Try the following:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI cable. This will help you determine if the laptop is booting, but the screen itself is faulty.

  • Press the Esc, F2, or Del key repeatedly as soon as you power the laptop on (depending on your laptop’s brand, this could vary).
