Well 3 days ago my laptop begun having issues with the screen .When at some point i was using the laptop i went somewhere in my house and i came back after 5 minutes(i didnt close the computer cover ,but this appears too on computer cover closed)and my laptop was still on but my screen was off(all the lights except disk were on but i couldnt turn my screen on,buttons did nothing and my fans still working.I had to close the laptop by pressing down the power button. Some other problems are:I am trying to close the laptop by here(http://prntscr.com/fcyn3b)but the result is the same as before. My laptop startup time is way slower than before(bios startup was 2,8 seconds and now 14 or sometimes 3,6).I dont know if it is something that i did but i have some thoughts(same day i was doing updates to all my systems by computer management.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand the laptop isn't shutting down,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Is it possible that the computer isn't turned off but put into sleep? (the updates could have changed these settings)

Here's what you need to do, to revert the setting back to normal:

You can save power by specifying what the computer does when you close the lid or when you press the power button.

  • Depending on the setting you specify, pressing the power button causes the computer to do one of the following: Do nothing, Sleep, Hibernate, or Shut down.

  • Depending on the setting you specify, closing the lid causes the computer to do one of the following: Do nothing, Sleep, Hibernate, or Shut down.

Use the following steps to change power button and lid settings:

  1. At the Start screen, type power options to open the Search charm. Select Power Options in the Search results.

  2. In the left pane, click Choose what the power buttons do or Choose what closing the lid does.

  3. To change settings for the power button, click the arrow next to When I press the power button, select the setting you wish to use, and then click Save changes.

  4. To change the lid closure setting, click When I close the lid, select the setting you wish to use, and then click Save changes.
