May I know how are you reinstalling the Windows? Are you using the HP Recovery Media?

I suggest you restore the BIOS back to defaults and that might help

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.

  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.

  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.

  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.

  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?

  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Then try reinstalling the Windows OS. If the issue persists, try reseating the hard drive before contacting HP to order the Recovery Media to perform a complete System Recovery

It turns out installing windows 10 from a usb drive was not possible and I tried system restore and now the laptop is fine, restored it back to earlier time and that fixed my problem. But how do I reset the 1TB Hard drive so that I can install the OS aka win10 is I don’t know, I am a technician I would like to know for future use

thanks for the reply

I'm glad you got this issue sorted out

To install the OS you need to boot from a Bootable Recovery Media. You cannot plug in a USB drive and try installing Windows.

If you do not have the Recovery Media, please contact HP Support to order one or you could use the HP Cloud Recovery
