Hello everybody. I got a laptop from HP around 2 years ago. And about 2 weeks ago it started behaving really strange. In the morning I couldnt turn it on, and went to safe mode to fix it (I didnt know how to do so yet though, so I ended up just resetting my windows). And when I reset my windows, the problem is still here. Later I figured out the problem is with windows exiting winlogon. When I put in my password it automatically toggles off. I thought my laptop is about to die, but, even more later I figured out that its something about my drivers. I reset my windows for 10th time to check it(I did a windows 10 and 11, both are not working), and I was right. Whenever I would boot up, I go to safe mode, reset my drivers through DDU. Then I turn off my windows updates through services.msc and looks like its all done. I been using this method to boot up and use my laptop. BIOS on this laptop is not really good, I almost cant adjust nothing. But later on, this morning I got another problem, and I couldnt even load in safe mode (no picture at all). I tried to unplug every usb from my laptop, and later I realised that when I plug my charger, it automatically turns off and gives me no screen at all. I dont know how am I going to be fixing this yet, because I dont want to get inside of my laptop and try to unplug the battery to check whats wrong with it. So if any of HP supports see this, please reply with something I could do to fix it. I went through some posts of people who are issuing with black screen and I see that everyone responds with the same text (F11 - Safe mode - Check drivers through win+x or just reset your windows.) I know that resetting windows fixes most of the issues, but it wouldnt help me there.
Thanks for reading all of my waffle, Best regards.

@ftatink, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it must be to deal with a laptop that shuts down unexpectedly, especially after multiple Windows resets. Let's walk through a few steps to help isolate and hopefully resolve the issue.
Perform a Hard Reset
This helps clear residual power and may resolve black screen issues.
- Power off the laptop.
- Unplug the charger and all peripherals.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Plug in the charger only and try powering on.
Check for Hardware Issues
The fact that plugging in the charger causes shutdown suggests a possible power delivery or battery issue.
- Try booting only on battery (if it holds charge).
- Try booting only on charger with battery removed (if removable).
- If battery is internal, consider contacting HP support for a battery diagnostic.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
Use HP's built-in diagnostics to check for hardware faults.
- Turn off the laptop.
- Power on and immediately press Esc, then F2 to enter diagnostics.
- Run System Tests > Extensive Test.
Update BIOS (if possible)
Even if BIOS options are limited, updating it may help with power and driver issues.
- Identify your laptop model using HP Support Assistant or from the sticker.
- Visit HP Software & Driver Downloads and search for your model.
- Download and install the latest BIOS update only if the system is stable enough to do so.
Clean Install with Driver Control
Since you’ve already used DDU, try this refined approach:
- Boot into Safe Mode.
- Use DDU to remove GPU drivers.
- Disable automatic driver updates:
- Run gpedit.msc → Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → System → Device Installation → Device Installation Restrictions → Enable “Prevent installation of devices that match any of these device IDs”.
- Install OEM drivers only from HP website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
