Earlier today, I was gaming using GeForce Now, playing Rust. Randomly, my computer crashes and every time I tried to reboot it, it didn’t work
On my screen was an error code: “log file: d/windows/system32/logfiles/srt/srttrail.txt”
I tried restoring my system: didn’t work, it kicked me out and I couldn’t even get far when I tried resetting the PC after
Then... my laptop suddenly turned off and now I can’t even boot it up, period.
Now it tells me “The selected boot device failed. Press <Enter> to continue.”
I press enter and all it does is turn it off and it’s just an endless cycle
Can someone please help me? I found it EXTREMELY hard to contact HP. I can’t even seem to get into contact with a real agent and it’s extremely frustrating!
I paid a SUBSTANTIAL amount of money for this laptop and I desperately need it for school and work, I have no other way of doing my online work during this pandemic without it.

Hi
PLEASE POST ANY RESULTS.
First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.
Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat; Re-Connect the AC adapter.
NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.
Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).
Your description suggests a failed/failing HDD, which would need replacing and all software re-installing.

From 2016 onwards there is a possible recovery option via the cloud...
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 7 & 10)
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06162205
OR
This may require another PC. Find and Download your .iso from…
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Expand/Extract/Burn the iso Image onto a DVD/USB as needed.
Microsoft’s Creator Tool will make the required DVD or USB.
If in doubt please ask.

I did the tests, and all but the memory tests failed.
The hard drive ones, both extensive and quick failed.
Now, I want to exhaust ALL methods possible since every repair shop near me is closed because of the pandemic, and I don’t have much time before I start getting work again. My teachers have agreed to give me the week to get my laptop fixed, nothing longer than that. I’m in a desperate situation right now and I am really hoping that nothing is broken.
My biggest question is “Why and how?”
I was literally doing the same things I do every single day on my laptop and it randomly crashed and then becomes unusable? I wasn’t even doing anything intensive on both the hard drive and the memory
I am looking to use the cloud recovery tool, but I’m somewhat confused by the tutorial HP made, is it possible to do a brief walkthrough of what I need to do the recovery and how to do it?

Hi
"
I did the tests, and all but the memory tests failed.

"
So the memory passed test? YES / NO
Hard Disk Drive failed test? YES / NO
So replace the Hard Drive. Buy a new one.
Make at least an install USB. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
To get started, you will first need to have a license to install Windows 10. You can then download and run the media creation tool. For more information on how to use the tool, see the instructions below.
